Imphal, February 05 2025: To honour the supreme sacrifice made by Colonel Viplav Tripathi, Rifleman Suman Swargiary, Rifleman RP Meena, Rifleman NK Konyak and Rifleman Shyamal Das while serving in the insurgency ridden areas of Manipur on the fateful day of November 13, 2021, Assam Rifles organised a series of events at Churachandpur district, Manipur.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), parents of Late Colonel Viplav Tripathi unveiled the memorial platform at the gates of Khuga Garrison to rename it as "Viplav Garrison" .
Next of kin of Late Colonel Viplav Tripathi and Late Rifleman Suman Swargiary laid wreaths at the memorials dedicated to the heroes in a proud and emotional ceremony held at Khuga Garrison of Assam Rifles.
Maj General Ravroop Singh, SM, YSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) exhorted the gathering to seek motivation from their valour and sacrifice.
The finals of the inaugural edition of the Colonel Viplav Tripathi Memorial Football Tournament was attended by the relatives of the brave heroes.
The commemorative tournament started on 17 January 2025 at the Tuibong Peace Ground, Churachandpur.
Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps along with Maj Gen Ravroop Singh, SM, YSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) also graced the occasion.
The inaugural edition of the tournament witnessed participation from boys and girls with a total of 14 teams fiercely contending for the trophy, with Zengsol Football club emerging as the title winners in the women's category and Sanggam Football club emerging winners in the men's category.
The undying commitment and social responsibility of the Assam Rifles was lauded by the local populace.
The event reignited the sense of patriotism and national integration in the minds of the local population who bore witness to the ultimate sacrifice made by these fallen heroes, said the IGAR (South) .

Imphal, February 05 2025: In a series of successful joint operations on February 3,2025, .Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur police, apprehended eight insurgents at different locations in the State.
According to a release issued by HQ IGAR(South), these joint operations were based on specific intelligence inputs about cadres involved in extortion and other unlawful activities.
In the first operation, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police apprehended an active KYKL cadre in Wabagai Lamkhai, Kakching district.
The individual was allegedly involved in extortion activities and was intercepted while traveling in a Maruti A-Star car.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two mobile phones and the vehicle.
Questioning the individual on the spot revealed his affiliation as KYKL cadre and that he was engaged in extortion.
In another joint operation, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police apprehended a cadre of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) Progressive in Yairipok, Thoubal district.
The individual was allegedly involved in extortion and intimidation activities in Thoubal town.
In another major breakthrough, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police apprehended five cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) in Sangakpham, Imphal East district.
The intelligence gathered by Assam Rifles pointed to the presence of active KCP (City Meitei) cadres in Sangakpham with reports linking the individuals to extortion and intimidation.
Search operation resulted in the recovery of a 9mm pistol with a magazine, two No 36 hand grenades, ammunition, three mobile phones and cash.
Additionally, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police successfully apprehended a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) in Singjamei, Imphal East district.
The search, based on specific intelligence about a KCP (MC) cadre involved in extortion and intimidation, led to the recovery of a grey Jupiter scooter, a mobile phone
